As part of The Paris Review‘s First Time series, Vivian Gornick shares the somewhat roundabout route she took to writing her first book. Further proof that there is no “right” way to become an author, and how opportunity may knock, but it’s how you respond that matters.

I really enjoyed this interview with Ms. Gornick. I’d never heard of that book or of her. Guess I should step out of the children’s book world bubble once in a while. 🙂
She writes an interesting mix of fiction and nonfiction, with emphasis on personal narrative, which might be obvious from the video. One of those authors who has endured but is certainly not a household name.
These little pieces always make me smile. Thanks for continuing to share them. 🙂
